Many hands make light work

by NightShift

Last weekend saw an amazing work party tackle our food and clothing warehouse, as well as our training and in/out-reach area. The team rearranged and restacked the shelving for a more efficient flow, they cleaned and scrubbed and organized around 1900 sq ft of the ministry’s space in just a few hours. What a totally amazing day with a total of 17 incredible souls.  THANK YOU TO ALL: Dane, Jo-Anne, Mike, Karen, John, Bill, Don, Emma, Brent, John, Allister, Jamie, Meredith, Lisa, Peter, Sam, Luke and Sandy.

Before (temporary storage overlaod) and After (all set up and ready to go).

Jo-Anne and I got there at 8:30 with two dozen donuts and some potato salad (for a later lunch with Luke’s spectacular salmon!) – I took a bunch of ‘before’ pictures (for the record), then we made an igloo of iced tea, a Cambro container of iced water, and a Cambro container of coffee. Our gracious volunteers started arriving at 9:00 AM and then our Father simply took over the day – what truly amazed me about the day (and which I did not realize until getting home) was that God really was in control – I gave very little direction. It dawned on me later that God put everyone in the positions that He wanted them to be in and He knew who was suited to do what jobs – this to me at the end of the day was what really hit me as being so amazing – He had control without anyone really knowing it.

Brent and his group attached the tarp from one roof to the other which helps to cover the BBQ – this is only temporary until we figure out how to create a more permanent shelter in the alcove outside. The donated 8 x 8 x 16 storage POD is exactly what we needed to store all of the clothing – Thank you God. We were completely finished by 2:00 PM, except for Jo-Anne, Mike and me, who did some last minute finishing touches. So in total it really only took about four hours of actual work as we did break for a fabulous lunch and we did have fun. Sandy – your prayers for the day, the volunteers, and for me were welcomed. Even though I felt our Lord put this on me to take on, I must admit that this week I was very nervous about the whole thing.  Thanks to Sandy’s words to me, and her prayers, did I then get rid of the nervous feeling and on Thursday got very excited and confident that all is good because of Him.

This is another milestone behind us – what’s next? We all need to pray and listen and listen some more to our Lord’s directions.

Shalom and blessings to all, Dane …doing for the least of others…
