A Plate Full of Gratitude

by NightShift

NightShift’s 5th Annual Thanksgiving Dinner was such a special time!

Between Surrey and Langley, NightShift served 250 friends in need in our communities. On the menu was a hot turkey dinner complete with stuffing, mashed potatoes, mixed veggies, cranberry sauce and gravy – all the fixings for the perfect Thanksgiving feast! We had pumpkin pie for dessert, and gave out treats and coffee gift cards. Our plates were not only full of great food, but full of gratitude.

In Surrey, we asked our community to share what they are grateful for, by writing it down a leaf-shaped card. Practising gratitude helps people relish goodness, improve relationships and deal with adversity. Here’s just some of the gratitude that was shared:

“I’m filled with gratitude for the kindness shown to me.”

“I give thanks for the great dinner and the people who served it.”

“I’m thankful for my kids and grandkids and NightShift.”

“I’m thankful for the Lord’s never-ending patience, love, understanding and forgiveness.”

Thanksgiving Dinner wouldn’t be possible without the generous support of volunteers, donors and sponsors. With your help, we were able to provide a place of belonging and hope for those experiencing homelessness, poverty, addiction and mental illness in our neighbourhood.

If you are looking for ways to support our neighbours in need, consider participating in our Mountain of Food campaign, to help us fill our pantries for the winter months, or make a gift:
