What We Do

We exist to care for the holistic needs of others, 365 days a year, by building relationships and restoring lives through outreach, counselling, education and transitional housing.

NightShift has been providing nightly outreach for people stuck in the cycle of poverty, addiction and homelessness in the Whalley neighbourhood of Surrey since 2004. We do this with hot meals, warm clothing, conversation, basic nursing and counselling, and most importantly, unconditional love.

Our mission is to love unconditionally and help each other find hope and purpose.

We put people first. Our outreach helps people with different life stories come together, get to know each other and grow in compassion. We see this happen in all areas of our ministry, from people living on the street, to volunteers, donors and staff.

NightShift relies on volunteers to provide a holistic approach to alleviate poverty and homelessness and to offer hope and a sense of purpose for all people. With the help of our volunteer team, we provide:

Evening Outreach Services –  Surrey and Langley

Serving 365 nights a year in Surrey, and four nights a week in Langley, our volunteer teams connect with people as they are lining up for hot food and grabbing a drink together, finding a pair of jeans or a blanket to help take off the chill, sharing a story or a prayer, listening to the sweet music being shared by one of the team.

Mobile Nursing, Counselling and Outreach – Surrey and Langley
In 2021, we relaunched out “Care Bus” services with our new Mobile Outreach Unit (MOU), to provide free basic nursing, access to counselling and other resources. The MOU operates in Surrey and Langley.

Education and Programs
Our education mission includes leadership training, programs and support groups to meet emotional, spiritual and practical needs of people from all walks of life.

Counselling and the Care Program
Anyone ready to take the next step in wellness is able to access affordable and confidential counselling through The Care Centre. One-on-one, couple and group counselling for all ages is provided through Christian, registered counsellors. We can put you in touch regardless of background, financial status or spiritual belief.

Taste of Heaven – social enterprise
Our Taste of Heaven food truck serves gourmet sausages and scrumptious homemade condiments around the Lower Mainland, at local festivals and private events. Our “feeding hungry hearts” program helps us deliver the message of love, hope and purpose in the community and with every meal purchased we are raising funds and awareness to support our outreach programs.

Events
Our special events bring awareness and help us raise funds for all areas of our ministry.
