Flexible Volunteer Positions
Are you looking for meaningful experience that truly helps those in need in our community? Are you eager to be part of a Christian faith-based team committed to serving the needs of people struggling with homelessness, poverty, addiction and mental illness? Great news – NightShift is growing our little (but mighty) team and has the following openings that might be just the thing for you!
BADGED VOLUNTEER POSITIONS
Do you have DAYTIME availability?
If you are organized, have good communication skills and are interested in performing general office duties, read on! We are looking for someone with a big heart and compassion for people living on the street, to help support our Front Office at NightShift. You’ll be helping to answer the phone and welcoming visitors who might be looking for services, dropping off donations or have questions about what it is that NightShift does. If you love interacting with people, and are available mornings or afternoons for one or more days a week, please let Maisie know!
Welcome to our DROP-IN program!
Are you interested in building connections with our street friends over a cup of hot chocolate? Would you enjoy leading art activities or games? We are looking for friendly and approachable volunteers with weekday daytime availability to support our Welcome Centre. This program provides an opportunity for our friends to drop in weekday afternoons from 2-4 pm to connect, share their stories, access support, and engage with NightShift volunteers and each other.
If you are interested in taking an afternoon shift in our Welcome Centre, please reach out to Dawson with your availability.
Looking for special CARE supporters
Our care program is provided by professionals who volunteer their time in the evenings. Currently our wonderful volunteers offer
- hair care
- foot care
- vision care
- hearing care
If this sounds like you, and you occasionally have a couple of hours to spare, please let us know!
We are actively recruiting volunteer
COUNSELLORS, PHYSICIANS and NURSES:
With our Mobile Outreach Unit (MOU), our basic nursing and counselling services are mobile again! This is a much-needed service that we are initially providing one night a week in both Surrey and Langley, and we need a variety of professionals to provide these important services to those who need it most. If you are a licenced, practicing counsellor, or a professional physician or nurse, with a few hours to spare one evening a week, we can’t wait to hear from you!
LOVE FOOD?
Love our Taste of Heaven!
Are you looking for a fun and unique way to serve and share love in your community? NightShift has a very cool, “bite-sized” way for you to get involved, and we’ll provide the training to prepare you to join this growing volunteer team.
Our regular food truck service, serving our signature, gourmet sausage-in-a-bun operates at special events, job sites, community gatherings and church parties throughout the Lower Mainland. You might already know that Taste of Heaven is a social enterprise from NightShift Street Ministries – which means all net profits from the food truck support our nightly outreach and daily continuing care programs to hundreds of people in need on the streets.
The word is spreading about our mouth-wateringly delicious sausages, so we need the help of our fantastic volunteers to meet growing demand! In addition to food, fun and teamwork, Taste of Heaven volunteers will get to check out some cool locations, special events and job sites around the Lower Mainland. If you are interested, please reach out to Kyler with your availability.
Do you like DRIVING big-hearted vehicles?
Then you might be interested in supporting our little fleet of mobile outreach and care vehicles, which include our Mobile Outreach Unit (MOU), our Community Outreach Vehicle (COV) and our kitchen and clothing outreach support vehicles. We are looking for volunteer drivers to bring our vehicles to where they need to be, such as their outreach locations in Surrey and Langley in the evenings, to stay with them to watch over the proceedings there, then driving back the truck or bus or van for the night. Are you on board?
How do I get “badged”?
