“Stay where you are. Find your own Calcutta. Find the sick, the suffering and the lonely right there where you are — in your own homes and in your own families, in your workplaces and in your schools. …You can find Calcutta all over the world, if you have the eyes to see. Everywhere, wherever you go, you find people who are unwanted, unloved, uncared for, just rejected by society — completely forgotten, completely left alone.” Mother Teresa
NightShift’s mission is to ‘love unconditionally and help others find hope and purpose’. I see this mission in action every week as hundreds of lives are impacted by our services. Did you know that in a typical month, NightShift provides unwavering support to the sick, the suffering and the lonely — all within twenty minutes from where most of us live? Yep, every month, in our own backyards, our very own Calcutta…
- 2,850 nourishing meals
- 240 warm blankets
- 1,740 clothing items
- 300 care kits
In an average year, NightShift provides more than 61,600 episodes of assistance at an estimated value of $342,000 for food and $226,400 for clothing items that are collected and distributed to individuals and families in need, by around 6,700 volunteer shifts. These numbers are big, but they all start with ‘one’.
It takes roughly $10 to meet the basic needs of ONE person – a nourishing meal, a change of clothes (jeans, shirt, jacket, pair of socks, shoes or boots), a blanket and a toothbrush – the very things that most of us take for granted. Will you help us raise $10 to help ONE? Or… $20 to help TWO; Or… $30 dollars to help THREE; Or…FOUR?
We can’t do this without you. Team NightShift needs your help. Charity starts at home.
