Grace

by NightShift

“Grace” has come to the street in a manner of gentle, loving presence, like the name appropriately translated to our dear Charis Dyck. Though “a spark or a vapour that appears for a moment, and is no more,” truly she imparted a lifetime’s worth of love to and upon all who had the privilege of knowing her.  She graced the streets and lives of our street family many times, by simply modelling the ear and loving heart of our Lord so well. And with an accompanying deep-reaching smile, it would be sealed forever that you had spent time in the presence of His specially anointed and humble servant, and yes, even without words.  Though our hearts are broken for this dear one, taken so suddenly and so soon, we have a healing privilege to freely share and agree with what Charis would wave off with a different accompanying smile, “Oh, don’t you have something better to do?” Dear Lord, in our hurt, we can still be thankful in her joy now, the everlasting rest in life our Charis now partakes in. Her race, all too brief according to our ways, was obviously run well to the last in yours, and we praise You Lord for gracing us with her. She is dearly missed, a sister who loved to serve with us all. Our prayers are very much with her family. The memorial service for Charis will be held at Parkland on Thursday, September 15, at 7 pm.
