Leading with joy

I have been coming out in the evenings as a volunteer at NightShift for over a year and recently I led my first evening.

The Lord has been leading me clearly over the last few years to focus my time on people who are marginalized, homeless, poor. To serve here in any capacity has always been so energizing for me. To be able to offer our street friends a warm meal, a smile, a listening ear, clothing, prayer or whatever it may be that we have to share…this has been life-giving for me. To see all these people and wonder what their story is – and sometimes be allowed to hear them share it – fills me with an incredible compassion and desire to understand more of the individual life journeys that bring us together. Being able to lift each other up spiritually, emotionally or physically, for even a brief moment, is a joy and I am thrilled to be able to serve in this way.
