It’s hard to think straight when you’re hungry, sleeping rough or in a place no one wants to call “home”, surviving on instinct when hardship is your routine. That’s why we operate a street outreach program every night of the year to provide a little consistency and encouragement for people in need of love, hope and purpose.

365 nights a year, NightShift volunteers prepare a nutritious meal in a Fraser Health approved facility, often in one of our supporting church’s kitchens. We serve our street friends at 7 pm from our mobile kitchen at 10635 King George Boulevard or the Taste of Heaven food truck in Langley. From our clothing truck or Mobile Outreach Unit we offer a clean change of clothes or a pair of shoes, a warm blanket or a small bag of care products, all to help friends living in poverty or on the street survive another night.

Clothes & Blankets

Can you help us provide up to 300 items of clothing a night? We are always grateful for donations of lightly used men’s and women’s jeans, hoodies, jackets, new underwear and socks, tops, shoes or blankets. During the winter months we add winter coats, boots, scarves, gloves and sleeping bags to our clothing wish list.

NightShift accepts and manages clothes and blankets on behalf of people in need. Please feel free to drop off clean, bagged clothes at our location on weekdays, Monday-Friday, between 9:30 am and 4:30 pm.

If you have any questions about the clothing ministry, please contact us.

Food & Supplies

The majority of food and supplies is donated by individuals, churches and other groups or local businesses – without whose help we would not be able to cater around 40,000 meals a year. For our dinner service our food needs are very specific and we are conscious of other groups in the community who rely on donations. So what we don’t use for our nightly outreach we donate to the Surrey Food Bank or recovery homes with whom we partner. These are some of the non-perishable items we use regularly in our nightly meal service.

Contact us if:

  • You or your group is interested in doing a food drive with NightShift
  • You are able to donate bulk food supplies like those listed for a tax receipt
  • You have any suggestions or questions about our food and supplies needs

Can you help us put together Care Packages?

We also collect travel-size toiletries and care products to pack into individual kits for the men and women who use our services. Items such as combs, brushes, feminine hygiene products, disposable razors, shampoo, soap and face cloths, toothpaste and toothbrushes, deodorant, cleansing wipes, adhesive bandages, notepads and pens are welcomed year round. Depending on the time of year, our friends really appreciate sunscreen or hand warmers, lip balm or plastic rain ponchos.

In partnership with Missions Fest we are currently collecting Care Kits. Please click on the poster below if you wish to download a PDF copy:

Or help celebrate special occasions?

A favourite with youth groups is getting ready for Christmas. There are toy drives to organize, cards to write and stockings to stuff. Check out the ways groups get involved with NightShift or find out what goes into making Christmas stockings the Aaron Mauro/Regent Christian Academy way:
